Founder of the Empowerment Gateway Group. I am a Portuguese citizen currently in South Africa, but consider myself a global citizen. A Born Social Entrepeneur and Change Maker who practiced as a mechanical engineer, working in the mining and petroleum sectors most of my life, but there come a time ... when just being part of the business as usual circles was not satisfying my own inner need for justice and fairness ... I have always believed that poverty, is a natural result of greed ... and there has to be a way that somehow we can facilitate real change in this world and really reduce current poverty levels worldwide ... I believe in a cooperative approach rather than a competitive aproach ... Our schools teach our kids to WIN at any cost! Our sports follows the same principle ... and so does the business world and goverments ... We are taugh to compete all our lives ... anywhere and at any time ... But winning means that there are always loosers! ... after all there can only be 1 winner at a time ... Now if we could just facilitate change and motivate people to cooperate with each other rather than competing with each other in all sectors of our lives we would be really WINNING! As a result, for the past 20 years I have been seraching for a WINNING tool that would be based on cooperation, fairness and justice. This gave rise to The Empowerment Gateway integrated values system, model and framework. It is not my work alone, but a result of hundreds of individuals spread all over the world that feels like I do ... all I have done is integrate hundreds of ideas, systems, frameworks and at times just wild toughts into a model ... Then I went further, I decided to stop talking and start doing ... and thus the major challenge of my life confronted me in 2004 ... was I prepared to sacrifice all for this dream? ... would I have assistance? ... I forgot the fears, the pain and with a few friends that are as mad as I am ... after three years spent on research, development, tests and trials ... we have now completed our Alpha phase of the project ... and we will be starting the Beta phases from the 1st of May 2007 ... launching out of Portugal, and rolling out internationally, first in South Africa, and thereafter the Uk and Germany. The Alpha pilots has shown us that we have a working model, now ... can we successfuly replicate it across Europe, Africa, UK, Germany ... and so many more places? Only time will tell in whether we will succeed ... and if by example we will make a real impact in the world ... We walk the talk ... and I am thankful for all the friends, colleagues and others that are spread all over the world that are willing to join us, and our teams ... May God, Jesus, Alah, Budha and every other saint, god or just nature be with us as we roll out the Empowerment Gateway Integrated Values Model and Framework ... If I can just see a small impact and a reduction of poverty, fear, hatred, greed and a thirst for power ... my life was worth living!
