EXPERIENCED SOCIAL JUSTICE LAWYER SEEKS POSITION WITH NON-PROFIT DEDICATED TO ANIMAL RIGHTS/WELFARE, THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT, OR THE EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN AND GIRLS
For nearly a decade, as a social justice lawyer with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Alternatives for Community & Environment, and the Center for Reproductive Rights, I represented underserved communities, by partnering with low-income residents working to build environmentally and economically sustainable neighborhoods, and women seeking to challenge restrictions on access to reproductive health care services. I’ve developed and sharpened a wide array of skills through this work, including organizing and chairing community meetings, running media campaigns, teaching environmental stewardship in schools, creating public education materials, building a statewide database of volunteer environmental professionals, directing legal intern programs, and advocating for my clients in the federal and state courts, before regulatory agencies and legislative bodies, and through multi-stakeholder advisory committees.
After taking a couple of years off to recharge and do some soul-searching, I've decided to return to the non-profit and social justice world, where my heart and passions have and always will reside. I am currently looking for an advocacy position with a non-profit organization or governmental agency whose mission is animal rights/welfare, or the urban environment and public health, or the empowerment of women and girls.
Let me know if you have any strong leads or other helpful information! Thanks very much.
Michelle
