Who am I?

Filed Under:
I am a 26-year-old technology professional based in Bangalore, India. I manage technology development projects for a living, in the Indian arm of German auto components major, Robert Bosch. I am an aspiring social entrepreneur, a wishful globe-trekker and a definitive fun-lover.

I grew up in a middle class neighbourhood in a small town in Southern India, with limited access to information and technology. But, opportunities opened up dramatically, when I moved to the city of Mysore for my Engineering course and later to the booming metropolis of Bangalore, for my job.

My work took me to Germany, where I lived for a year. I travelled across Western Europe, for work as well as for pleasure. I was exposed to different cultures, international work ethics, western sensibilities and languages. It made me confident and ambitious.

But, it also made me aware of the lack of opportunities in my hometown; of the growing economic and social disparity in my country. It reminded me of the erratic sources of income of people in my father’s native village. That was when I started thinking about ways to reduce this disparity and also making a career out of it.

Innovative for-profit or non-profit organizations/initiatives, which have the power to bring about sustainable and inclusive economic development, excite me. Organizations that make use of technology as developmental tool are of special interest to me. I enjoy exploring and analyzing such initiatives. This exploration helps me improve my knowledge of the base of the pyramid markets; it helps me understand ‘how stuff works’ in low-income groups.

I aspire to be an entrepreneur sometime in the future, catering to these markets. I also wish to travel the world, to live and work in countries as diverse as Botswana and the United States, to expand my horizons.

Join me on this exciting journey, as I chronicle my own exploration of sustainable and social initiatives; of inspiring corporate social responsibility initiatives; of business strategies aimed at bringing about inclusive economic development.

Welcome to my world.
