Creating a Culture of Giving is God's Gift to Mankind

Posted by Andrew Benson Greene Jr at May 07, 2009 11:12 PM

I am delighted to learn about the Creating a Culture of Giving mission that is Fashioned by the Clinton Global Fund. It is true that there is a sense of self-fulfillment, some aura of accomplishment when we give. Give also must come from one's heart, and must not be done to attain something more. I realized that sometimes, when i walk along the streets of Freetown here in Sierra Leone, people talk about Aid to Africa that comes with a promise of something in return. This is not a a culture of giving but one of reaping what one sows' out of a giving. When we give, we will expect good results from the receipient, but not allow the receipient to go with something in mind to ponder at. The receiver receives with an open mind to enjoy the charity without thinking of paying back in return.

Infact, I believe this initiative is quite fit for there is no culture of peace without a culture of giving. It is only when we give and share that we avoid conflict, it is when we just don't thing about grabbing it all by ourselves that leaves no envy, fear, ill-will and nurture of hate in minds. In the inter-connected world in which we are, we are each brother's and sister's keepers. We must explore the natural resources to benefit everyone, we must envision a world where the technology benefits humanity instead of destroys it. These days, mankind gives more to wars than to peace, and where many in Africa are burdened by poverty, health hazards etc, the support is thinned out from those who can do more. I hope that the example set by the clinton Global Initiative will be emulated. best regards from Sierra Leone Andrew CEO B-Gifted Foundation 2004/5 McGill University Sauve Scholar
