Re: Microfinancejobs.com- a specialised recruitment solution for organisations working in the area of microfinance
Hi!
I thought that its a work in progress document, but it seems its not. Soon I will add a word document to better reflect my response to the first excercise.
Broadly Microfinancejobs.com
has two distinct client groups
- Microfinance Organizations:
These organizations want to attract
talent to work with them. Our job
is to service their demand and get paid a fee in return. - Job seekers: They want to
work in the microfinance sector but currently don’t know what kinds of
opportunities are available. Our role is to educate them, reach out to
them and provide them with the right kind of opportunities.
I will be adding more details on these two groups in the next few days.
Hello Rahul,
Thank you for beginning the 2008 GSBI application process. My role is to assist you with preparation of the exercises, and to answer any questions you may have. I'm looking forward to receiving Exercise 1.

Hello Rahul,
I am glad to have received your Target Market Statement. You’ve
done a lot of work, and it looks very thorough. I do have a few comments to
provide:
1. Total
Available Market – Please verify that the numbers for market size you have
indicated include all microfinance organizations that want people to work with
them, not just those in India.
Additionally, I see no estimate of the number of individuals potentially
looking at career opportunities in the microfinance sector. It would be useful
to know the approximate size of this market.
2. Total
Addressable Market – This is where you will want to focus on the microfinance
sector in India.
You have nicely described the types
of organizations that are looking to recruit talent, and you have described the
advantages of Microfinance.com over at least one alternative to your service.
If there are any other alternatives, you should mention them also.
Additionally, you have provided three
well-defined attributes of the individuals your organization seeks to address.
All that remains to be done is to identify the alternatives to your service for
individuals, as well as the compelling reasons they would choose
Microfinance.com to meet their needs rather than other options.
3. Target
Market Segmentation –
Your segmentation of client
organizations is clear. I do wonder, however, whether the skills needed for
those working in banks might be different from the skills in need at a rural
insurance organization, for example. If they are, then this would be important
information to include in the “Needs” column of your segmentation table, as
well as any other differentiating needs that might exist.
Your segmentation for individuals
looking at career opportunities in microfinance lists institutions such as
universities and banks. Correcting this to instead refer to the individuals
associated with these institutions will help you to focus on the needs and
characteristics of the people rather than the organization to which they belong.
You have provided a well thought out response to Exercise 1.
If you would like to refine it, I would be happy to review your revision.
