The New Teacher Project (TNTP) is a national nonprofit dedicated to closing the achievement gap by ensuring that high-need students get outstanding teachers. Founded by teachers in 1997, TNTP partners with school districts and states to implement scalable responses to their most acute teacher quality challenges. Since its inception, TNTP has trained or hired approximately 33,000 teachers, benefiting an estimated 4.8 million students nationwide. It has established more than 70 programs and initiatives in 28 states and published three seminal studies on urban teacher hiring and school staffing.
TNTP is currently seeking a Chief Financial Officer to oversee the planning, development, and management of all finance functions of the organization. The Chief Financial Officer will report directly to the CEO and will manage TNTP’s Finance team, comprised of a total of approximately 7 staff. This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has solid financial systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. Role and Responsibilities Work with the Finance team to:
• Develop and oversee TNTP’s overall financial strategy, as well as setting and meeting TNTP’s long-range and short-term financial plans
• Oversee the budget development and monitoring process, financial reporting, audit, internal controls and policies, and other accounting operations
• Develop and oversee TNTP’s cash management and investment strategy
• Ensure that TNTP has the financials systems and processes in place to best meet the needs of the organization
• Ensure compliance with all government and private grant financial requirements Qualifications We are seeking an achievement-oriented leader with a passion for our mission. The successful candidate will also possess the following qualifications: • MBA or CPA, preferred
• Significant financial management experience
• Nonprofit financial management experience, strongly preferred
• Excellent analytical and organization skills
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Extremely detail-oriented
• Experience effectively managing teams
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all different levels in the organization
This position may be based in the central TNTP office in Brooklyn, New York or from a home office. Compensation The annual salary for this position is $140,000 or commensurate with experience in a similar position.
