Director of Development - Amherst, MA
Verité is an independent, non-profit social auditing, training and research organization established in 1995. Our mission is to ensure that people worldwide work under safe, fair and legal working conditions. We work to identify violations of workplace human rights and develop concrete steps to correct them through a combination of training for management and workers, education programs and remedial intervention.
Verité works with corporations, workers, investors, governments, labor unions and advocacy groups internationally. We operate through a network of Regional Offices and NGO partners in over 60 countries throughout Asia, Latin America, Africa, the United States and Europe. The organization has been supported largely by fee-for-service contracts and we now seek to increase our impact by diversifying our sources of funding.
Verité seeks a Director of Development to shape and implement an outreach and fundraising strategy for our dynamic and entrepreneurial global organization. The Director will be expected to put in place an effective strategy that leads to sustained funding for key programs and which provides for consistent outreach to key clients and supporters. The Director will have specific responsibility for Verité’s non-fee-for-service fundraising programs, including major gift fundraising, foundation grants, special events and planned giving.
A successful Director will undertake short-term efforts to seize immediate opportunities and lay the groundwork for exciting larger efforts in the medium term. Larger efforts include the possibility of membership programs, and joint fundraising with institutional members of Verité’s international network of partner organizations. There is ample room for creativity in the position.
The position calls for an innovative and skilled professional who takes initiative, has strong organizational skills and is an excellent writer and speaker. The ability to collaborate effectively is of the highest priority. Experience with building or serving a broad organizational membership, and major event planning, are positives. The position will report to the Executive Director.
Send a cover letter (one page maximum) and a resume.
Mail submissions can, if necessary, be sent to:
