We are ''Les Volontaires de la Santé”(ONG-LVS) (The Health Volunteers), a Non Governmental Organization based in Côte d’Ivoire (West Africa).

Our Organization is a non-profit organization created to improve poor communities’ living standards.

 We work in the following areas: 

–        Global health; 

–        Social/Humanity;

–        Poverty Reduction; 

–        Formation, Education; 

–        Sustainable Development. 

We have among our members and personal Physicians, Nurses, Aides, Social Communicators, Projects Managers, Pharmacists, and work in collaboration with national and international partners.  

Our Organisation works to improve created to improve Social, Sanitary, Educational, Economical condition of needy populations and communities. Our target population lives in precarious neighbourhoods of Abidjan, an economical capital of Côte d’Ivoire.

To achieve our goal, we use the following strategies:

–        Opening Health Promotion Centers;

–        Community Mobilization and Sensitizing;

–        Education, Training;

–        Assistance and Technical Support for NGO, Associations through our International network;  

–        Income generating activities to fight against poverty;

–        Social and Medical Assistance fund

Our actions spread on several years because the expressed needs are permanent. 

The ONG-LVS is a development Organization. Our goal is to contribute significantly to improve needy populations and communities social, sanitary, educational and economical conditions. Its objectives articulate around the Millennium Objectives for the Development (OMD): 

- To reduce the rates of morbidity and mortality and promote global health,

- To reduce the poverty,

- To improve the knowledge and educational level of needy young people, 

- To create an international partnership for a sustainable development.

This will of intervention is born because of the multiple difficulties by the populations since September 2002, date of the beginning of the Politico-military crisis. 

The NGO LVS has, by its initiatives, participated in the improvement of the life conditions of more than 1 000 families. This number is certainly important but stays little meaningful when one refers to the needs of the underprivileged populations and communities. Because in spite of the efforts agreed by the Government, the Partners and the other non Governmental Organizations, the situation remains preoccupying according to the UNDP last report.

Indeed, according to this report: 

 Our country has been undergoing a severe politico- military crisis since September 2002.
The effects of this situation are particularly severe in health sector. The war situation, with its accompanying violence, rape, population displacement and promiscuity and risky behaviour exacerbated by the explosion of a normal cultural context, gives reason to fear a significant increase in the incidence HIV/ AIDS, more numerous mother- to-child infections, unwanted pregnancies, abandoned children, and severe psychological trauma.
The economic situation has sharply deteriorated; prostitution is being seen to increase dramatically. We request your support to promote community development, healthcares services and improve their social, educational and economical conditions.
