The Skoll Scholarship for the Oxford MBA 2008/09

Filed Under:

Scholarship covers one-year full-time MBA programme at Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship

The one-year MBA programme at the Saïd Business School embodies the academic rigour and forward thinking that has made Oxford University a world leader in education. Building on Oxford’s 800-year history of educating leaders, the programme seeks to develop the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs.

The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship is committed to nurturing the social entrepreneurs of tomorrow. In order to fulfill this commitment we:

  • Provide innovative business education to potential and current social entrepreneurs
  • Connect practitioners, academics and students working in this field across nations, sectors and disciplines
  • Help practitioners and students to incubate new ideas and spin out new social ventures
  • Support the dissemination of new ideas and the adoption of good business models and practice.

The Skoll Scholarship is designed to give social entrepreneurs the knowledge, skills and networks they need to turn ideas into reality.  And deepen their conviction for doing so.

Each year, the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship awards five full scholarships to individuals working in the field who wish to enter the one-year full-time MBA programme.  Skoll Scholars usually have a strong track record in social entrepreneurship and intend to return to work in this sector after their studies.  They take all the social entrepreneurship elements of the MBA, which comprise three eight-week modules and two major social business projects designed to positively impact a specific social problem.  This amounts to approximately one-third of the whole MBA course content.

-To qualify, you need a proven track record and a clear vision for the impact the Oxford MBA can make to society.
- The scholarship covers fees and a stipend for living costs. The application fee can be waived for candidates from developing economies.
