Sixth African Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect

The Sixth African Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect whose theme is Early Childhood Development and Education will take place on 4-6 May 2009 at the UN Conference Centre at ECA, Addis Ababa , Ethiopia.
This conference will serve as a forum for children, parents, teachers, educators, administrators, child care providers, policy makers and all concerned to:
- Share experiences and evidence-based practices in early childhood care and education,
- Share information to guide positive policy and intervention program development on early childhood development and education,
- Examine challenges and opportunities for early childhood development and education practices in Africa , and
- Explore opportunities for cross-sectoral cooperation in regard to early childhood development and education.
Against this background, ANPPCAN Liberia will like to attend and fully participate in the above conference in sharing the Liberian Experience with the rest of Africa . The Conference shall also provide us the opportunity to learn from the experiences of other social workers which will enhance our work here in Liberia . We are therefore soliciting from you a travel grant that would enable us to travel to Addis Ababa and attend the Conference. Details of the Conference can be found at
African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Liberia is a continental organization that is committed to the protection of children against abuse, neglect and exploitation and respect of their rights in Africa . Since its establishment in 1986, ANPPCAN has played a pivotal role in advocating for the rights of children in Africa . ANPPCAN has an observer status with the African Union. ANPPCAN Liberia was established in 2001 and is registered with the Liberian Government through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Planning and Economic Affairs.
