Summer Internship with Skoll Foundation

The Skoll Foundation Program and Impact (P&I) team seeks a Summer Intern who brings a combination of intellectual curiosity, a passion for social change, a focus on tangible results and a desire to work within a strong team culture.
The Skoll Foundation is focused on deepening its support of social entrepreneurs within its flagship Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship (SASE) program. To inform this process, the Skoll Foundation is evaluating (1) services offered by other resource providers for social entrepreneurs and funders supporting practitioners in comparable fields, (2) the internal assets of the Foundation itself, and (3) potential innovations that can leverage its invest-connect-celebrate model to further empower its awardees to drive sustainable, large-scale equilibrium change.
Responsibilities
The Summer Intern will be responsible for conducting research leading to a deeper and more systematic model of value-added services and network-building for the SASE portfolio and alumni. Specifically, the intern will:
- Identify and assess the activities of other funders (e.g., foundations, venture philanthropy groups, venture capital firms) that result in valuable services beyond funding for their investees;
- Identify leading providers offering services to social entrepreneurs, including those offerings that may be provided pro bono (e.g., legal, human resources, Board development, branding, communications);
- Collect, consolidate and organize Foundation data on potential and current partners, collaborators and stakeholders of various finance, knowledge, talent, media and other network-based activities;
- Assist in the development of a services program for the SASE portfolio; and
- Other activities as needed.
Qualifications and Abilities
The ideal candidate for Summer Intern will possess the following characteristics:
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly motivated, with a desire to work within a team environment
• Interest in the field of social entrepreneurship
• Strong communication skills, particularly written
• Experience in Excel and PowerPoint
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline is required.
• Management consulting experience a plus.

Length of Engagement: 10 to 12 weeks
Employment Status: Exempt
Compensation: Competitive intern stipend
